|Moving Help Requested, and House for Rent
||[Jun. 1st, 2009|03:18 pm]
Most of you have probably heard the rumors by now. Well, they’re true: radiantbaby and I are moving into town. Like immediately. This weekend we’ll be moving ourselves — along with bed, computers, and other necessities — from our old house in Cumming to our new house in Clarkston. Any help anyone can offer would be much appreciated, and reimbursed with soda and pizza (or beer and veggieburgers if that’s your thing; let us know).
Two weeks later, on the weekend of the 20th, we’ll be moving the rest of our furniture. Same deal: Help will be greatly appreciated, and we’ll feed you for your sweat. (Not with your sweat: That’s not our kink.).
Anyway, reply here or email me if you can help and need directions.
In related news, our Cumming house will go up for rent as soon as we’re out of it and it’s cleaned up. We must find renters to comfort our mortgage banker, and quick. This means that we will be offering it for well under the going rate in the neighborhood. We’re aiming for $650/mo for the full 1400sqft house, but we’re open to negotiation if you need a lower rate. Pets are welcome. If you’ve ever considered moving out on your own, or if you’re learning to hate your current corporate-run apartment complex home, this could be a perfect low-cost opportunity for you. Drop us a line if you want more details.
Oh man, the timing is all wrong for me, but I still want to ask, does that house have a fenced-in yard?
As it happens, the Cumming house does have a fenced-in backyard. It’s not huge, but it’s functional. Oh, and a garden with a rosemary plant bigger than I am, and wonderful-smelling roses out front.
Can you quantify “all wrong” for the timing? ;-)
I can't really quantify it. I think my father's estate should be settled before the summer is over and I can legally sell or rent the properties that will be in my name. Financially, I can afford to move now and would have more than enough of a cushion to find myself a job and look at education opportunities, I just haven't moved yet because of the need to settle things here, and that I need to straighten out my credit (which, again, I can do once the estate is settled finally).
There are other hurdles to consider, such as the kiddo's schooling for one (and the headache of setting up an IEP and doing testing for kindergarten), and whether or not I'm emotionally and mentally strong enough for the stress of a big move, job hunting, and childcare searching.
If you've got someone willing to move in right away, go ahead because I can't honestly give you an answer right this instant, and I won't be in the area again until the last week of the month or week before to look at the property. However, I will talk it over with Sam and with my mother for their opinions.
Chat with your peeps. Do your thing. I don’t have anyone ready to move in right now: just one or two people who’ve shown an interest.
For me, I have to have a lease in my hands by the end of July — and preferably earlier — or the bank won’t give me a mortgage to buy my new house in Clarkston. Of course, it’s conceivable that they may be OK with a lease starting a month or three down the line, as long as it’s signed by the end of July.
That’s not your problem, though: Your sanity level takes precedence over my financial situation. ;-)
If nothing else, I can at least look at it when I'm in town. Either Saturday the 20th or 27th. That gives me time to really assess where I am, and think about it. Just don't feel bad if you get an offer and have to take it. I totally understand. :)
Hey! Matt and I will actually be in town this weekend. We are available on Sunday. Email and we can talk specifics.
Great! My guess is that it'll probably be about 11:00AM or so when we start (which is when we are starting on Saturday). I'll try to keep you posted over then next day or so.
It probably makes the most sense for Mark and me to help unloading at the Clarkston end. Let us know as the plan evolves.
Not sure what days you are available, but it looks like we should be getting to Clarkston about mid-afternoon on both days. justben
or I can give you a call when we are leaving Cumming and we can meet at the Clarkston house. It would probably be best if you parked in Anna and Ben's driveway though, since our driveway is small and will likely be mostly filled by the moving truck.
I so wish it wasnt on the other side of town from where I am :)
I am excited because now you will be near me! And- I am no longer going out of town this weekend, so I can help on Saturday I think. I can make one run up to Cumming but that's it, I am still unemployed and poor. But I can help you do all you want on the Clarkston end! Call me at 4042179414 and we can chat about it.
Great! We're telling people (right now it might just be you and my mother!) to meet us at the Cumming house between 10:00-11:00 AM and then we'll start packing up the truck. After that, we'll head to Clarkston, unpack (with possibly a few helpers on the other side), and then have some pizza and such.
The Cumming address is:
2440 Belaire Drive
Cumming, GA. 30041
I'll be happy to give you directions if you need. We might even be able to help with gas money as well.
It's likely that there will be a moving truck in the drive-way when you get there, but Ben might still be getting it. Parking on the side of the road should be okay. There are tiny ditches between the grass and the road, but you shouldn't have any trouble.
Call me if you have trouble or anything at 6785243930 or Ben at 6785242422!
I hope all goes well in your moves!!! I don't think I'll be in town either of those days, sorry about that, but I'm sure it'll go well.
